Dorota Maslowska

Dorota Maslowska is the star of the young Polish literary scene.  In 2002, at the age of 18, she wrote her debut novel which was released in 2004 as Schneeweiß und Russenrot in the German translation by Olaf Kühl.  The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung praised her book as "an eloquent novel about her generation, which is lost between drugs and the urge for consumption - a catcher in the rye from the Polish province" and she was awarded the highly acclaimed Polish Polityka- Award as well as the Nike - Prize.  In 2005 Maslowska's second book was published and released later in German under the title Die Reiherkönigin.  Her first play A Couple of poor, Polish speaking Romanians was written in 2006.  The play received its German premiere in 2008 at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in co-production with the Wiener Festwochen, directed by Armin Petras.  Her second play Wir kommen gut mit uns klar was presented in a guest perfomance by the theater TR Warsaw, directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna at the International Festival of Young Authors about Identity and History "digging deep and getting dirty" in March 2009 at the Schaubühne Berlin.
